Digital Communications Strategist - National Pork Board

The National Pork Board seeks an experienced Digital Communications Strategist to manage content and help improve the user experience across a number of large websites. The right candidate will have an interest in improving communication delivery through experience in information architecture and organization, managing and auditing disparate content across a number of websites.

Reporting to the Director of Public Relations, this role will support the digital, interactive and web communications needs of the National Pork Board and its departments to help drive strategy, development and implementation of communications materials across digital and interactive platforms.

The primary responsibilities of the Digital Communications Strategist include:
•Content Development: Experience writing, developing and managing interactive and engaging content in the form of videos, images, blog posts, email marketing and social media. Ability to repurpose content is preferred.
•Information Architecture: Auditing and organizing large amounts of content into custom taxonomies and audience segments. Experience consolidating content from multiple websites is a big plus.
•Content Management: Turning content and communications materials from subject matter experts into thoughtful and engaging web, email and social content. This role will help to create a content calendar and content management workflow.
•Search Engine Optimization: Ability to implement targeted SEO strategy based on keyword and topical data.
•Distribution: Use data and tools to distribute new and evergreen content to the right audiences across social media, email marketing and other relevant content outposts.
•Inbound Marketing: Know how to find the right audience for, and drive traffic to, specific topical content and landing pages on websites.
•Copywriting: Ability to write captivating headlines and meta information that improves click-through rates in search results and on social platforms.
•Conversion: Define goals and implement content in a way that guides a user to take a preferred action.
•Research: Research and plan content based on analytical data and comparative research.
•Social Media: Assist in developing content and managing campaigns across social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube). Also, assist in asset creation, including infographics, videos and blogs and manage an editorial calendar for all social networks, e-newsletters and blogs.
•Analytics: Report on analytics data from multiple sources.
•Other duties: Provide strategic digital communications counsel to National Pork Board departments including: Communications, Producer Services, Science & Technology, and Channel Marketing, Innovation and Social Responsibility.

Position Requirements
•Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism or a related field preferred.
•2-3 years of experience managing websites and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
•Strong communication and project management skills

Experience preparing analytics reports (Google Analytics, e-newsletter and social media analytics) and optimizing web content (Search Engine Optimization).
•A good understanding of HTML and the digital development process.
•Experience in Information Architecture managing complex websites, custom taxonomies, and audience segmentation
•Working experience managing content in a WordPress site
•Experience managing and reporting on MailChimp email marketing campaigns
•Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe)
•Baseline knowledge and understanding of social media for B2B and B2C companies.
•This position may require some domestic travel in order to meet communications needs. A valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.
